can it be used as an alt to ds1? i'd like to have a tone like kurt cobain's and I can only afford behringer pedals
Nice man!
@@TommyOakley thank you! I'm LOVING it.
Motherboard: Gigabyte B550 Aorus Elite AX Ver 1.0 RAM: Gskill Ripjaws (8 x2 ) = 16 GB 3200 Mhz in dual channel mode Processor: Ryzen 7 3700x SSD: 500 GB Western Digital NVME M.2 2280 Hard disc drive: 1 TB SATA Graphix: NVIDIA 1050 Ti I face lag and CPU overloading problem even if i use 20 25 tracks in FL Studio with lots of plugins (5 to 6) in each channel. And I can't run more than 5 to 6 Kontakt instruments at the same time. I face lag. All my Kontakt instruments are in My HDD which i have recently known to be a huge mistake. I am now planning to get a 1 TB ssd and transfer all the kontakt instruments on that and Also may be 2 16 GB RAM stick so totaling at 48 GB of RAM. Do you have any advice for me ?
I bought it for guitar. It's great and a lot of fun. It's basically the same circuit as a Sans Amp.
Anyone else notice I plugged all my rack gear in wrong? Glad I caught it later one! 😅
Kerluke Neck
Is it $10 just for one song yearly?
Very limited pedal , is a entry level pedal, for fun is great
im looking for a good EQ after my AMS Neeve 1073 SPX Preamp just for voice overs, in the future i also want to put a compressor between both. Do you think that will work well or should i wait and invest in a better EQ to get everything out of my Sennheiser MKH50 ? I mean, 2 years later after this video was posted id love to get honest advice, if you say theres another EQ for 1000bucks more but very worth the price, i will check that EQ. im reading through forums and watching videos to collect some ideas.
Hello! I still think this is a great unit. I use it nearly every day on my master bus. I just love how it adds a nice bit of shimmer and sweetness to a mix, instrument or vocal track. It also just adds a nice bit of depth. I personally think it's hard to beat at the price point. There are other passive EQ's that are a little more transparent in the higher end frequencies, but those are 3-5 times more expensive. I just checked Reverb.com and saw some used ones as low at $500. I wouldn't hesitate to buy more if I had another need for a passive EQ.
@@ZachWirchak Hey, thanks! Yea most of the time you can hear the big difference in the higher frequencies.. i will give it a try, heard tons of good things about this unit. Also would love to get my hands on a Cranborne Audio - Carnaby HE2, its a harmonic equalizer, but a very unique one, thanks for your help!
That's valhalla room reverb is plugin issue.. I really got it on few projects rest it was alright.
We can build one for you
I'm an audio and PC guy working in the industry. My only recommended upgrades to this would be a more airflow focused case, which will allow for more air with lower fan speeds (and noise). Noctua or BeQuiet fans (preferably 4pin). Motherboard features are user specific, but a lot of audio people will want thunderbolt and or 2.5G networking for that NAS, maybe USB-C or built in WiFi/Bluetooth. SATA is fine for Audio, but if you're sampling, or using Kontakt etc you wont yet see a benefit from NVMe's, but project loading time will be reduced. DDR5 is the biggest upgrade for Audio production. CPU wise, you want the most P cores, and hyperthreading enabled or disabled depending on plugins and workload. Overall, this is the best time ever to built an Audio production PC.
That is solid advice/tips! My initial plan was to upgrade the fans, but after spending time a lot with the machine the socket and core temps are well within the normal operating range even when I'm running a big 100+ track project. The location of the tower also cuts down on any fan noise (which is pretty minimal) too. I know it only helps a tiny bit, but I also work in a room that never sees temps over 75 degrees even in 100 degree weather outside. I do a lot of work with samples and Kontakt every day and the NVMe's have been a noticeable upgrade from my previous SSDs that I ran the OS, plugins, software, ect from. My NAS is really just for my archival work. And I recently hard wired my entire setup so now backing up to the NAS is lightning fast which has been a great upgrade. DDR5 I was very torn about... I read and watched benchmark video that it wasn't making a large difference in audio production yet and the prices (at the time of building) where much higher than DDR4. I'm usually someone who likes to future proof my investments, but I also wanted to keep the build under/around $1200. So I stuck with DDR4 and I'm hoping I won't regret it as time marches on... but if I do, it's an excuse to build another machine!
I have this cpu with 32 gb of ram but have issues with fl vocal recording with minimal plug ins. Compared to my Mac with an old i5 and 8 gb of ram I can run that thing with 10+ tracks most with heavy processing. Sadly I can’t do this with this cpu I’m hoping it’s fl 😭 I tried a lot of different buffer rates and still a slight delay
Oh wow! I wonder if there is an option deep somewhere in the project settings that can improve performance. I'm not very familiar with FL, but I know if Cubase there are something you can change based on your CPU to improve the performance.
Is that 43 inch screen monitor?
It's a 40" Samsung 4k TV. I got it about 5 years ago. It's been flawless.
@@ZachWirchak Is it better to go for screen monitor of that size or TV? How about eyes fatigue?
@@SannMirko I haven't' had any issues with eye fatigue over the years (knock on wood). I don't have it overly bright though. If needed I can also set it on a auto dimming setting so it matches the rooms brightness so at night or on a dark day I'm not blinding myself... but I rarely use that feature. A PC monitor would be better overall performance wise. But I got this for $250 and to get a similar PC monitor would be 3-4x more expensive.
@@ZachWirchak i was looking to buy samsung 42 monitor, do you think is too big for a room 4meter x 4meter?
@@SannMirko in my room, which is about 12x18, I don't think it would be too big. Of course it also depends on how far away from your screen you sit. I sit about 42" from my screen.
does this work on FL
I'm not 100% familiar with FL these days. But this should work like any other USB power controller. So I would be very confident saying yes, it'll work with FL.
Does it have a transpose feature...?
hi! Quick question..The real time export is only because you're using outboard gear right?
Correct! I also made a video back in January where I show a new way of mixing and working with midi drums. I go over how to set up each drum on it's own fader so you can make all your adjustments individually. It's how I work with midi drums 100% of the time now.
does the mono/stereo switch on the front also affect recording? I am planning to use this along with a smartphone setup, I do not own a computer and have no plans of obtaining one.
That switch should only change the playback from Stereo or Mono. It should not make a difference in what you're recording.
Whats up Bro, Great Video. Was wondering if the Intel degradation Problem with 13th/14th cpu has affected your 13700k? Have you noticed any issues with your processor?
@@successdivisioncorp I have not noticed any issues on my end. I've been super happy with it. I use it pretty heavily with all the music production and video production as well. Most of the time no matter how hard I'm pushing it, I'm still sitting under 50-60% CPU usage.
Why B-760? It's not OC-able. Why not Z790?
@@cfhklhog I ended up going with a Z690 from MSI. I touch on it briefly in the video. I wanted to keep the over budget as close to $1200 as possible. But the one I got initially needed to be flashed to work with the 13700k, and after doing a little research on that, I saw that there was the MSI Z690 in stock down the road.... so I went and snagged that to put in the build. There should be a link to the exact board in the description for this video.
To comment stupid things like “it has rubber on the bottom” it’s extremely stupid and insulting for the viewers, what a shitty video, sorry, it’s the truth, this about an audio device, not a about an art painting
Where is the sound demo ?? Dude, imagine I tell you “buy this pedal because I like it trust me” 😂😂😂
@@ricardoa2894 there is a link is the description where there are in-depth sound samples and not a lot of talking.
Very nice Zach!
@@LeeHouk thank you!
Bought one on your recommendation. Hard to say no, when it sounds so good, and is so cheap.
I've been using mine on my B Rig as of late for a little more push/boost, and it's been working really well! And for $25.... hard to beat!
❤
What gear are you using in your home studio? And what are you creating?
Thank you, great analysis! I was wondering if the pedals are equivalent, and you had argued that they are not.
I would say if you need more sound "creating" the Amp Modeler is better. But if you're looking to juice up your overall tone, the Vintage Drive would be better. I'm using both off and on with my B Rig right now and both have worked great. I still think my TS808 sounds better than the Vintage Drive, but not 6x better as the price difference would have you think.
@@ZachWirchaksounds like a win-win to me... Ordered both. Can't go wrong at this price 😊😊
@@TheTwangKings I totally agree! The price is hard (or impossible) to beat!
Nice setup😊
@@CarlKaroyan thank you!
Can you use this to record onto a digital multitrack ?
Man, more people need to hear this holy shit…. The way you flow from the chords to just having fun with it is perfect🤘🏼
@@justinruble1919 thank you for such kind words!
I've been doing this with MT Power Drums. I can channel each element to a different track and work that way, but I prefer to export them as wav files and drop them back in. I could set the output of the midi track as the input of a blank track and hit record, but I just solo the drum track and export the mix in real time for each component. Time consuming, but I'm just sitting back doing something else in between hitting solo and export so it's not a hassle. It means I can add a little compression or saturation, high pass etc when exporting to save on CPU later. I put plugins on tracks and export them as a means of committing, but also saving lots of CPU over a whole mix. You can always go back a step or to the raw track if you really need to. Back to drums, I'll put effects on the snare on a duplicate mono track and export it as a stereo wav file rather than use a send as then, the DAW is just playing a wav file instead of running plugins. You want to leave some things until later so you can tweak them as you go, but the basic "set and forget" plugin chain might as well be out of the way. Good to see I wasn't the only one exporting midi this way!
@@Dave-Rough-Diamond-Dunn I recently started setting up my projects so each midi drum is assigned to a fader, that I can then tweet 100% independently. That has changed the game for me. I did a video on it earlier this year.
@@ZachWirchak I can do that two different ways with MT Power Drums in the Waveform DAW, but I found that I like having the wav files better so I stopped doing it. A big part of that was due to only having a 1.7khz laptop, but it's stuck with me. I'll check out the vid though, thanks!
The point of this pedal was to model the pedal Kurt used for distortion, probably why you dont like it so much, shouldve played it in that style
Really hope you answer! How do you split songs if there’s different splits on the writing side and master side? There’s no option to split master shares. Any help would be much appreciated!
Tidal pays me 1.25$ for 840 streams 🙂 I contacted them and they said it’s not thier problem Ps the streams are from Iceland which I found online they should pay 0.04 per stream from this country But here you have it 🙂
I am only able to record on channel one can you tell me why I am not able to do on all channel
Se puede usar con movil android?
No lo creo, pero nunca lo he intentado.
My Pc is : intel core i9 14900kf with 128 G ram , but for some of kontak plugin I have issues. Sound cracking and click voice and glitches... Really I don't know what I do...
What buffer size are you running? Also depending on which DAW you're using, there are some settings to help with virtual instrument performance.
Hah, i was right. 😄 I own both, the SSl plugin and the Warm audio and they have there places in my productions. On Busses and stuff always the Plugin but on the Mixbus, dude, the glue thing from the Warm Audio is really good. 🙏
Same! I use both a healthy amount on most all of my projects.
Can you do an updated video on this for 2024?
I was like “hmm this looks really interesting” then I saw it was $700….yeeeeahhh, no thanks lol
Thx for the tip. Is there also a way to do this but to keep each track in midi? Let's say you have the original midi track and now you just want to use how it's written but you wanna assign different sample from your DAW to each of the drum. Meaning you use the original program (drum plug-in) to write the parts but then you use the DAW drum samples for the actual sounds (instead of just mixing sounds that the plug-in created)..? Thanks a lot.
If you go to my videos I posted something that might be exactly what you're looking for! I posted it in January of this year. It's the way I do 100% of my midi drums now. It's amazing.
Can it be used to run 2 microphones as I'm looking to start a podcast
Just picked up this unit and I can't wait to try this. This just made me stoked to get in there. I have a WA-2A on the send returns of the EQ which brings this to a whole new level. I might add my WA76 for dual compression option.... forgot how much I missed hardware.... thank you
Excellent! Happy tracking/mixing!
So is it from China or Albania?
One thing is that it is not large diaphragm condenser. It’s rather electret. That is why it does not capture room like condenser would do.
Hi. Can you sweep 2 knobs at once on that. Like sweeping an eq analog style
Yup! You can twist as many knobs at the same time as you have hands.
@@ZachWirchak cool. Thanks. The 4kB channel sounds amazing
From an arms dealer to a music equipment engineer
How could you not hear hiss? You don't need separate speakers to use your ears to hear hiss
Who came here from Soft White Underbelly?!!!
That was a pretty crazy story.
I rode in on a horn swooped bungo pony .
Wait? I’m interested what this has to do with that channel
Please take about it
